Hi, I'm a writer from Sydney. I write novels, short stories and memoir. My debut crime novel, TEETH KICKER (HarperCollins) comes out in September 2026.

My short fiction features the weird and the wounded, criminals, wanderers, lovers, and ordinary people getting in over their heads. There are links to a whole bunch of my short stories somewhere round here...

 

In 2009, I lost some of my left arm to a Great White shark attack. I couldn't more strongly recommend that you avoid that kind of thing, if you can. My memoir MAN IN A GREY SUIT (Penguin) recounts the attack and its aftermath with what I hope is a deep respect for the ocean.

When I'm not writing, you can find me in the surf or spending time with my wife and two daughters.
